I think because from being young I've always gone on passenger ferries to the Isle of Man etc so that's always appealed to me.....I mean I'll be gutted if I don't get passenger. However it's the same ticket at the end of 3 years so.....I'll take anything

What is that makes you wanna do passenger ferries? I'm a bit torn between them and the offshore ones.
Also I've tried choosing companies that try to hire their cadets, like GulfMark.

I see, I actually thought about putting P&O ferries but I wasn't sure if you'd be on their vessels or not. Argh, so hard narrowing down a top 3, especially considering I might not end up with any of them.

Think it depends on what company you get put with. For example I know if your with cal mac for example you probably will as you do your sea time with northern marine if I'm not mistaken. However if your with say red funnel then I would doubt it...

If you get passenger ferries do you do all your sea time on them or do you do some deep sea too?

Fingers crossed I get one of mine. Not gone down the cruise route but passenger ferries. All 3 were passenger. I got told at my interview if I wanted passenger more than any other then my best bet was to choose 3 lol. However if I don't get passenger I won't be to gutted as I still get the same qual at the end of the day and can always try for them once qualified

Yeah, that seems to be what everyone says regarding CMT. I'm putting Gulf Offshore, Subsea 7 and I can't decide whether to put Fletchers Shipping or Northern Marine for my 3rd choice.

No first hand experience with K line but quite a few college mates are with them.. They've only been on bulk carriers, as Kraken said no internet, filipino crew... Not really heard anything overly positive/negative about them, just another average deep sea company.

Good luck with your choices, around 70-80% of my class didn't get any of their top 3.

Also a load of LNG carriers, Croatian crew, etc...

Or at least I knew a few lads who went on them....

Can anyone expand on what they've heard about K-Line? What have you heard that makes them seem a good choice? I'm trying to narrow down my choices for CMT today.

Chances on getting a cruise company with Clyde are slim to none, I wouldn't waste one of your options choosing one. Worst case scenario is none of your choices are taking cadets and you get a company you didn't choose, which may be in a different sector altogether. I'd say go K-Line over cruise.
