Hopefully someone will be able to help you.

I would advise that everyone photo copies the ships' particulars and sea service pages and all of the other bits that need to be completed and make a rough copy then check and double check it before you fill it in at the end.
    Go out, do stuff

The TRB is a very protected document. I asked the MNTB for a copy of one to take to schools and they had to get permission to issue one to me with a "sample" watermark on every page. I doubt you will find someone with an electronic copy, but if you do - I need one for the bears! LOL

Should have seen the hassle I had getting one, and that was for professional reasons!
I love deadlines. I like the whooshing sound they make as they fly by.....

It's funny how you mention watermark as all us ETO's this year got issued with watermarked ones and these supposedly came from MNTB, we just thought the college printed them haha. Makes our trb's look stupid really unprofessional!

The ETO TRBs have been watermarked since they started issuing them around 2010 for some reason. I think initially it was because they were "trial" ones.

Can't you just ask your College to make a copy of a blank TRB? They probably have a pile of them in a cupboard ready for the next Phase going through... That was always my plan if I (or when) I make a real mess of mine.

New ones coming out soon, think the engineers got a new one and deckies? Heard ETO's are due one soon too!

Shows how standards have declined - we had a properly bound book, hard covered and printed that we all had to cover with old charts to keep in good condition. The middle pages had a block chart you filled in to show you had completed tasks. If people are interested to see I can photograph a couple of pages and post it up.

                        Go on then. :-)

Standards have dropped even in the last few years, or at least since the VQ route went away. The pages of the VQ portfolios were at least neatly printed. The new TRBs I have seen have all looked like very rough photocopies (Fleetwood issued). The VQ ringbinders were MNTB issued (Maersk excepted), but I wonder if the colleges were responsible for printing the pages?

They informed us this is how the MNTB sends them!

Change again? Maybe they might rethink some of the tasks required, seeing as some of them were illogical to say the least! Still surprised, seeing as they only updated them in what, 2009? (Although mine was better than the previous version, and they ware all streets ahead of the Filipino training book!!)

Anyway, Ian - Yes Please!! Would be fascinating to see an original book.

They updated them again in 2011-12 I believe. Although I can only speak for the deck side I assume they would've updated the engineering ones at the same time. From what I saw the "update" consisted of putting a DVD in with it and making some of the boxes shaded to indicate what should be completed on the first and second sea phases. I think the tasks remained pretty much the same. This was the year after I received my TRB but from comparing mine with the other cadets on ship who were the year behind me not much had changed apart from the shading.

And Ian, yeah I would also be interested to see what an older TRB looks like. Nosey as always!
