For one the link just takes me to a blank page and secondly you need to change your signature!

Good report Chris, as you say a few glaring errors - none of which you would make in normal daily life at sea. Fancy cocking up a variation calculation - must have made you sweat a bit!

Please remember to turn the steering gear on the next time you do a departure! LOL.

        Well done.

Do you need to change your tag from founder to qualified founder?

Very comprehensive orals report. Must've taken you longer to write than you spent actually doing the orals! Decent exam by the looks of things, although reading through it makes me glad I won't have to do another one for a good few years. Well done again! How long before you get back to sea as an OOW?

To be fair - if you ever forget that one - you do realise pretty quickly...

Should probably change from cadet but then there's a dilemma - I'm still at college for another month or so to get my HND and mates' exemptions. Also need to actually send everything off to the MCA!

It was decent in terms of content. Very tense though. The other Southampton examiners are known for putting people at ease so my expectations were a bit different to reality. Should be off in January.

Definitely! Just went completely out of my mind, and it was a quick answer if I had realised.

Congratulations. Superb orals report. I have to admit though, your description of arriving at Spring Place gave me that sinking feeling in my stomach... Oh how I am glad I'll never have to go to that exam room again. You will of course be there in around 3 years time again a few years later :-)
Comments; The examiner gave a reasonably fair exam and you seemed to ace it. Navtex does work on MF like you said, it certainly doesn't operate on VHF, he must be confused. I have no idea why he would raise an eyebrow to you having Hi-Fog sprinkler systems in the accommodation, I would say that it would be unusual not to see hi-fog in a Passenger Vessels accommodation. Normally automatic release in the accommodation and manual release in machinery spaces. With regards passenger ships, a fairly recent amendment to SOLAS is the requirement for the boats to be lowered to embarkation on a weekly basis.
