    Moooorning,

I'm currently tacking some coursework about search and rescue. In particular I have to critique the guidance given in IAMSAR Volume 3: Mobile Facilities such as how effective the guidance is for a vessel taking the role of on scene co-ordinator for the first time in a search and rescue situation.

I was wondering if anyone is aware of any journal articles or accident reports that are related to this? My searches are only bringing up MRCC/Coastguard search and rescue incidents......

    Cheers,
    Northern

Yeeer, trawled through several years of them. Not a lot to offer there other than the usual coastguard rescues.

Try trawling through some of the other nations MAIB reports. There might be some in the Danish, AMSA, etc ones...
I love deadlines. I like the whooshing sound they make as they fly by.....

All posts here represent my own opinion and not that of my employer.

I wouldn't worry too much about, it from the sound of it they want to make sure you've read and understood IAMSAR!!! Give your own opinion on how effective the S+R patterns would be, what size/type/number of ships or boats you would use for each, how well you understand what your responsibilities are as the OSC ship from what you've read... what furthe info and support you would want in that situation....
