  • Sunny Point USA, First Trip

    Hi all,

So I just got the call for my first sea phase. I'll be leaving in a couple of days and heading to Sunny Point, USA. Has anyone had any experiance of the area? From what I gather it'll be a fairly simple to-and-from trip so it'd be nice to hear a little about the destination from those who have experianced it.

    Thanks!

Expect a delay at US immigration with a trip to a private room...

Also potentially limited shore leave in the USA depending what mood the authorities are in at the time.

Is this always the case when joining in the US?

I'll be quite surprised if Seabound has that problem as a guest of the US military.

Thanks for the replies but I'm not actually joining at Sunny Point - that's just the main destination for this voyage. Sorry, that was poor wording on my part.

Make sure you know if you are going direct to the ship or staying at a hotel (if so, make sure you know the hotels name). When I arrived I had no idea if I was going direct to the ship or hotel so was basically told if I didn't know I'd be sent back to the UK however somehow it was on their system where I was going at the airport. Once your onboard, If like me, we travelled from long beach to Sanfransisco, myself and anyone else who I'd signed on with, we were not issued a shore visa since we had been issued joining visas which meant we weren't allowed to go ashore at all in either long beach or San Fran. We would be required to leave US waters and re enter in order for us to be considered for a shore visa which was a pain in the arse as San Fran was a place I'd always wanted to see.

Thanks for the advice! I'm joining in the UK and sailing over so that should be ok but I've got my passport/ c1d sorted so no problems there (I hope).
