  • Engineering Kit List

Right, had a quick glance on the wiki, and I noticed it has a copy of the kit list that is sent to each of us.
    • Springbow Compass[/*yykggzdg]
    • Large Compass/Dividers[/*yykggzdg]
    • 8? (200mm) right-angled set square[/*yykggzdg]
    • 10? (250mm) 60? set square[/*yykggzdg]
    • 6? (150mm) protractor[/*yykggzdg]
    • Engineering drawing rule(r)[/*yykggzdg]
    • Tin of drawing pencils of varying hardnesses - refillable mechanical pencils are best[/*yykggzdg]
    • Pencil sharpener[/*yykggzdg]
    • Rubber[/*yykggzdg]
    • Duster (?!)[/*yykggzdg]
    • Zeus engineering pocket tables[/*yykggzdg]
    • 6? steel rule(r)[/*yykggzdg]
    • Steel centre punch[/*yykggzdg]
    • Steel scribe[/*yykggzdg]

Now I have highlighted in green all those that I can understand.
    • I have just purchased a Springbow compass, so why would I need a second compass?[/*yykggzdg]
    • What is the difference between a steel rule and an engineering rule?[/*yykggzdg]

I googled for some places you can buy these things, but I didn't read everything on the catalogues, as I expect there to be no mad rush for this stuff, and plenty of time to read through and ask people there.

I reckon you can get a fancy compass set with an extending arm kit to go with it.
Perhaps the "second compass" is the cheaper alternative to the dividers?

Yes I work for the big blue canoe company.
No I do not report things from here to them as they are quite able to come and read this stuff for themselves.

Yea the zeus book will get used once in a blue moon, think i've used one twice since college, and that was only to identify a really funny thread.

6" steel rule is something that lives in the top of your toolbox and you use as a scraper but im guessing they get you to bring your own as they tend to go walkies

got everything except a scribe and 150mm circular portractor. I don't have the Zeus book, but I've got an old one from dad; a 'Newne's' book, and that seems to have everything in it.
