  • Chartwork Instruments

Hi, in around 3/4 weeks i will be needing chartwork instruments and was wondering if any ex-cadets or cadets in Phase 3/5 are willingly to sell me their equipment. I need a brass compass, 24 inch parallel rulers and possibly a chart tube. If you can help me please feel free to respond on this thread or private message me

I'm in a similar situation - Had a look at CharlieDelta's website but they don't ship to New Zealand... Anyone have any suggestions as to alternatives?

No wonder. I had a look at Royal Mail costs to NZ and the cheapest seems to be about ?40

I'd be happy to buy and forward them to you as long as you could figure out a way of paying for them and paying for the shipping from the UK to NZ.

Ship Chandlers? Where in NZ are you based, I can check our database at some point and tell you who and where...
I love deadlines. I like the whooshing sound they make as they fly by.....

I'd appreciate it, I'm currently based in Auckland for college, I've had a look at a couple of local shops (Boat Books and TransPacific Marine) yesterday, but for a basic pair of parallel rules they wanted $50+...

Much obliged! I'll keep it in mind if I get stuck.

There are a few online NZ shops that post, Discount marine, Smart marine, and have you asked the college if they know of a supplier, or have some they sell themselves. I would think its a common question.
Amazon have a few, they seem to post to New Zealand for lots of items. All in USD though.
Maybe they are just that expensive down there.

Thanks guys for all of your help! College told me that the only two NZ sellers were the ones that I visited, they don't sell them directly.

Amazon seems to be the better price-wise right now but I'm not in a rush so I'll keep looking.

On a related topic - How useful are the Captain Fields graduation markings? Is it worth the extra money?

They cost extra for a few markings? Depends if you like using them or not - personally your only going to use the things at college a few times - once your on ship you'll most likely use Portland triangles which are far quicker!

Have you tried www.bookharbour.com? They have a world pay service and can be contacted either via the website or facebook page
