Outer jackets

My birthday was in January, and I was gifted a large outdoor jacket. Wondering now if I should take said jacket to college, or use the branded one provided? Might seem a silly question, but I've heard there's not much call for non-uniform clothing, and thinking of it as a space-saving consideration also...

Did you bring your own outdoor jacket with you to college? Did you use it? Did you not?

Did you leave your own jacket at home and stick with the branded jacket provided? Did you manage well without?

Just a slight grey area for me.
