What on earth do you need them to be over 21 for? Is that the age of consent for some freaky sexual practice? not pyramid-balconing is it? You might be the oldest or the youngest I am very doubtful either of those will be the case but your are learning to be a leader so being able to get on with and earn respect from people of all ages is important. Don worry too much about age just crack on and give it your best and you are likely to have lots in common with lots of people.

Age is actually quite an important factor, and yes there are lots of older cadets. The younger guys need to remember that when you enter into a cadetship at an older age, people make some pretty serious sacrifices and generally take things a lot more seriously...so keep quiet in lectures please!!!

I think in general you still remain in the young sector, when I was a cadet a few years back most were around 16-22, with a few older then that. You will be absolutely fine.
When I had just qualified a cadet joined my company at 42 years old (ex firefighter). I think when you get above the mid twenties it becomes much harder, I think at that point the decision has to be thoroughly and properly considered, bearing in mind it will take around 8 to 12 years from start to finish becoming a qualified Chief Engineer.

23 is NOT old. I would wager you won't even be nearly the oldest. There are a number of people here over 30 and many in the 25-30 bracket.

I'm 31 and I'm only the 4th oldest in my class. There are plenty of old people around.

I love deadlines. I like the whooshing sound they make as they fly by.....

Euroceanica. Or more accurately my contract now says Eurocarrier. Who have the same address, phone and fax number as Euroceanica. They kept me on (and I think possibly another one or two cadets) when they left the tonnage tax scheme and no longer required cadets

I trained on their tankers and by the sound of it was lucky to avoid the bulk carrier which is the vessel/company I am now technically sponsored by. Which chemical tankers did/do you work on?
