  • Cadet accomodation Jan 2023

    Hi all,

A few cadets are looking at private accommodation in Southampton for our third phase from September 2022-Jan 2023, however most of the accomodation providers we’ve contacted have said that we would have to pay for the whole year unless we can find anyone to move in and take over the contract when we go to sea. Is there anyone on here who will be at Warsash starting Jan/Feb 2023 who would be interested in taking part in this sort of arrangement?

    Cheers

I think it will be tricky to find a full group. Have you had a look at Spareroom.com? Thats mainly for more flexible letting.

When I was at WMA, Student Support provided us with a list of lettings companies/landlords that worked around the cadet term times. Do they not do that anymore?

Have you tried Capital House? I used them for phase 5 and was perfectly happy with them.

Near University of Southampton. Features a range of bespoke private studios, en-suite clusters and a selection of shared houses.

          Try ...
          • Every Student - Lucia Foster Welch
          • Unite Students - Orion Point
          • Spareroom
          • Zoopla / Rightmove (if you are ok with renting a small 1 room apt. Some students rent a 2, 3 or 4 room apt or terraced house together and split the bills.)
The university has a hub where they have a list of local approved landlords (SSASH or some such silly acronym) - sounds good in theory, but actually these landlords are almost always full.

Solent always has about 80-120 out of town (mostly from India) OOWs and Chief Mates at any given instance for their college and exams.

A suggestion - arrive a week early and search / sort this out asap, as getting affordable accommodation is always tricky in Southampton.
