  • How hard is travel around warsash?

I need to make a choice between warsash and south tyneside very soon and right now I have no idea what to choose. One of the things I would like to know about warsash is how hard it is to get into southampton for a night out? Im not a total party animal but I could see having to get a taxi back what seems to be a fair distance after the trains are off being a total nightmare. Meeting people outside of the academy seems like a daunting prospect to.

Is it as hard as I am imagining?

Getting a cab is easy cost of it is the difficult thing.

About ?20 taxi back from town get 4 of you that is ?5 each. After about 10 pm you can forget about getting a train.

I wouldnt base my choice of college on the local night life.

If you can manage to get a 7 seater taxi (and fill it) this can bring down the cost a little more (?3-?4 each). As SA17 said, taxi is the only way to get to and from Southampton (and Portsmouth), buses will take a looooong time and finish early evening and Swanwick train station is a 45 min walk away.

Or you can find someone who has a car and is looking to earn a few quid by driving you in for a price that is slightly less than a taxi!

No idea, but it's about 3 miles so I am guessing 6/7/8 quid-ish?

Trust me mate, come warsash. We have an onsite bar with sky tv (what else could you want?). Warsash is only a small town where you can find everything you need and its only a short walk away from the college. They have a public bus into Southampton during the day but now on Friday nights the Solent uni put a free mini bus on to ferry people into the city from Warsash.

For the most part your there to study during phase 1 - of course everyone has a good time when the work allows.

You may find that having everything in one place on site (and up the road) suits you more. Rather than having to walk here, there and everywhere up North. The bonus being up North you have plenty to look at, on site!

Just take the hit with the taxis on weekends.
