Uniform for Paccship?

hi guys ,

does anybody have any idea if we have to order epaulettes and standard white shirt , black trousers , black tie and shoes and jumper from anywhere specific , i have found a cheep place online to get them but its with clide marine would that be a bad idea because i am sponsored by paccships ? seems like there isnt a specific uniform and it makes sense to get the cheapest option ?

All you need is the bog standard basic uniform that is the same across the MN: White pilot shirts, cadet epaulettes, black tie, black trousers, black socks, black shoes, wooly pulley/NATO jumper. Buy it cheap! Anything that your company sprecifically wants you to have, they should provide.

Clyde Marine Uniform is associated with Clyde Marine, but anybody can order from them. If it's cheap, buy it from them.

I know cadet's finanaces are somewhat constrained, but surely 'buy cheap, buy twice' still applies?

Uniform isn't too much of an issue, it's just for college for most people.

Truedat, I keep forgetting that when you leave college thats it for uniform, unless you become a cruising type.

Some captain's like you to wear a pilot shirt with boards for pilotage and meeting immigration/customs. Saying that, I only met one who wanted it. But still, never hurts to wear it anyway when you are meeting and greeting guests to the ship. Rather than lounging around in your bermuda shorts and wifebeater vest.

And don't forget that whatever shirts you buy, they'll be going through ship's laundry - which isn't so bad if it's done for you, but if you DIY, then inevitably everything ends up grey, in which case you're best off buying some new shirts fairly regularly!

Opposite experience! RFA laundrymen turn everything grey or orange. DIY means care instructions and segregation followed properly.

Hi,
Im starting in September with paccships and this is probably too late to be useful lol. But its just a standard uniform, i bought from Clyde marine.
If you have started already, how do you find the company?
