So whos starting on the Jan intake?

So I notice there hasn't been many additions to the 2011 roll call recently. So whos starting at South Tyneside for the January intake? Where are you from, age? and what company is sponsoring you?

Also, has anyone else got a start date around the 14th Feb time? Although it is a Jan intake, the course seems to be starting a little later.

I'll start: Im from Manchester, I'm 23 and I'm being sponsored by Clyde (we don't find out our actual sponsor company until we start)

My start date is the 10th of January but i'm an Engine Cadet.

thats strange, the college reopens on the 3rd jan, so I thought you would come up then for your induction week, with the course starting on the 10th.

All the HND Deckies are leaving on the 14th of Feb, so may be in line with that so theirs rooms for the new people starting

how come the HND are going so early ? we dont get to go till the end of March are you back in September also. college opens on the 10th for us engineers

Maybe I am reading your post the wrong way.
It's the "but" bit - in particular.
Let me assure you there is absolutely nothing wrong with being an engineer cadet (just in case anyone is under the impression there is)
They are essential, and "good ones", are much sought after.
We can't operate efficiently without them - all ships of the power driven variety, need them

I think he was meaning but I am an engine cadet and you are deck and we start at different times are in different classes, rather than denigrading his (obviously brilliant!!!) choice to be an engineer

NO one is starting in Jan this year , this is what i was told by my tutor today . they have nocked it on the head the janurary intake due to staffing and not having enough classrooms

No one? I got told by SSTG, that there wasn't a Jan intake of engineers on the FD.

but James Fisher were trying to fill places on the HND starting on the 10th of Jan, so is it no intake at all, or just the FD that is being knocked?

Hmm there might be a HND , i was just told that there would be no Jan Intake that is all i was told. My tutor is For FD only so i guess this could be correct , this info could be for Engineers only .

Coming from a HND Deck perspective, I know for definite that our Jan intake start date is in Feburary (counter-intuitive I know) as I phoned up Clyde and double checked last week.

However, I did orginally apply for the FD at South Tyneside and had Clyde phone me up a few months back saying that I would either have to change colleges to do the FD or to change to HND to study at South Tyneside (which I did). Thinking what Beef and Tempest have said above, looks like there might be no intake, deck or engineer, at all in Jan for the FD!
