Just a quick question really. For us that are going to FNC in september, will our uniform be delivered to us or be at the college for us to collect?

When I was at college it was a few weeks before we got out uniforms for sea.

When I had my interview I was told we get 1 set of uniform for college and another set just before we go to sea?

All you need to wear to college is suit black tie like your going to a funeral. Most companies you don't have wear uniform at sea. It's Clyde Marine some of the training officers struggle to organise a piss up in a brewery.

No big deal really as I already have 80% of the uniform (long story) the only thing I'm missing is Epaulets and overalls

Only time you will wear overalls in when you do your short courses.

Clyde gave me all of my uniform a couple of weeks after I started and that was this September!!

Ive bought some of my own uniform for starting the course as CMT told me they will provide me with uniform around the second week of my course starting. They also told me they provide overalls (which i presume is a boilersuit) and safety shoes. I will find out soon enough, starting in Shetland next Monday.

I don't know if things have changed, but CMT will issue you a full going sea uniform (including slides and the white shorts) at some point within first phase, probably just before you go to sea so you don't really need to buy them. However, from what I remember, the boiler suits they gave us were not the best (it was like wearing a tent and were bright white) so I tended to buy my own safety gear (including rigger boots, much more comfy to work in).

If any engineers are reading this, you'll get two boilersuits and boots within the first week or two of starting as you'll need them for the workshop and the rest of the uniform will come later.
