  • Things to do

Hi, I start at Fleetwood on the 4th of February and was wondering what there is to do there, I know I'll be working and revising and there isn't that much free time, but on the weekends you do get off what do people normally do? Also, is there a gym or area for bikes so I can stay in shape? Thanks.

I'm hoping to do some paddling but also go home on some weekends

Most weekends, Alex, the adventure based training officer runs canoeing/kayaking/sailing sessions at the marine lake. Weather dependent.
Wednesday and Thursday evenings you can swim/kayak in the pool onsite (depending upon availability). Also there is a chance to go skiing/snowboarding in Manchester with a few college staff once a week for six weeks. There's a fair bit to do, other than visit the local wildlife spots in Fleetwood...

I think that that is a fair description of the pubs and clubs in the area. Keep your eye out for the hippocrocomoose. Common in clubs and bars but more difficult to see after a few pints!

No, Riversdale College in Aigburth. Ocean Fleets had their training offices on the site as well. A place called Aulis. All gone now - replaced by housing.

Thanks for replies. I live in shields and did the pre cadetship at stc and the best (and I suppose, the worst) things about stc is there's 7 different pubs within minutes of the college and the hair dressers and beuticians. Quite easy to get distracted

Yes that is right. Sometimes if we had nothing to do we would sit and drink beer and fall asleep on a warm afternoon on the cricket ground!

Use to have nice chips with gravy from Wongs after a few beers in The Kingsman!
