Don't forget! Big booze up for Charity in the Mansion House on the 5th! All new cadets should come along and join in!
I love deadlines. I like the whooshing sound they make as they fly by.....

              Start here http://www.officercadet.com/showthre...=Student+loans
Yes you can apply for a student loan quite late even when you have started college there are limits check the website.
If you use the search function there are many other threads. Depending on if you are HND or FD also depends on if you can access them
Just bear in mind it does have to be paid back, qualified officers pay will put you in the bracket to pay back fairly soon, it is not interest free, have you sorted out a student bank account? There are free and cheap overdrafts with some. Consider it carefully. I don't know if you are just leaving school or a mature student in which case of course you may well have existing commitments that could be difficult to cover on a cadet bursary.
I know there have been posts in here where people have regretted getting them, and spent the money on fun and going out.

Might I suggest you wait and see how you manage. I'm also not sure how it is paid direct to you, as normally student loan company pay the college directly, there must be a way as people have done it, but I'm not sure if that is still possible. They have a habit of changing!
You may be able to access a grant that is not repaid depending on your family finances.

Loans are paid directly into your bank account, as has always been the case as far as I know. Loans for tuition fees etc in England may be different but we don't need to worry about that in Scotland thanks to our free higher education!

I think I know one person who got a student loan out of about 40 of us. I didn't bother, you can manage on a cadets pay if you are sensible and the interest rates on student loans aren't as good as they once were. Having said that once you qualify you should be able to pay it back fairly quickly on an officer's salary. I did make good use of the interest free overdraft on my student bank account though!

Of course Eh75 I forgot Scotland was sensible and doesn't charge it's students. All the info is on here for you it covers student going to a Scottish university from Scotland England and Wales.

Via their website I reckon. Could always come up yourself! There is some relatively cheap accommodation up here...

Would you drive a 500 mile round trip in a 2002 Ford Ka? Neither would I!
