  • Hi I was wondering about the college open days for really any college.

What do u do at the open days and do the sponcering company's make presentations and are you given the opportunity to talk to them. Also do company's like carnival turn at glasgow college

Check your spelling - SPONSORSHIP not SPONCERSHIP an the plural of COMPANY is COMPANIES, not COMPANY'S

Spelling and grammatical mistakes look bad on CVs or Applications and tend to put potential employers off immediately.

My spelling is fine usually but I am using my phone and I find using the touch pad terrible.

Sponsor companies usually set up their own stalls with training officers and current cadets manning them. This gives you the chance to find out about each company, what its like to be a cadet, their requirements to apply and a little about the industry. If you want to find out when each open day is I would suggest phoning the colleges directly. I.e. South Shields Marine School, Glasgow Nautical College, Fleetwood Nautical College and Warsash (which ever is closer to you).

Warsash College is having an open day on Friday the 27th of June which I am going to be attending. I've heard its worth taking along a few CV's and giving them to companies you're interested in.

I'm not 100% sure, that's one of the reasons I'm going to the open day. Hopefully the companies that are there will be able to give me an insight into what they have to offer and then hopefully I'll be able to make more of an informed decision about applications. I'm not going to dismiss any one sector of the industry though, because how am I going to know what it's like without trying it!
