Erm, it's really annoying...
I've had one person see what site I was on in the college computer room and he told me he'd got so pissed off with the spam from the fb group that he left it and wouldn't even consider coming over to the forum.
At the end of the day, not everyone wants to join a forum, people join fb groups at the drop of a hat because it's as easy as clicking a mouse button. You're never going to get 100% crossover....
May I suggest that, instead of sending out messages saying how many members and posts we have you post stuff on the group's wall,(these will then show up in peoples news feeds) such as interesting news articles that have popped up in the news forum etc, not as links to the forum, but just to get peoples interest in the group, which they will then hopefully visit and look at what the group is for properly (cos I can guarantee you that people like stuff/join stuff without looking at it first, and delete spammy emails without reading them) then they might decide to come see us over here. It's passive aggressive advertising, rather than jumping up and down in folks faces shouting "Heeeeey look at meeeeee!"
