  • Maths......yuck!

Well, I am currently sitting down at the desk revising my maths. So far I have relearnt trig and Py-what a fag-orus, sectors, lengths of arcs, algebra and mensuration. I also have a handy little book about celestial nav....and amazingly it already makes sense to me!!
I'm sure that I'm lulling myself into a false sense of security-but I shall continue with my Maths quest. I have lots of very pretty graphs and diagrams in my brand new book of graph paper-so it certainly looks very studious! In all honesty, I'm actaully quite enjoying revisiting it all-can't wait for college now to learn it all properly!

Ive gathered that as long as you are up to date with your maths to say, GCSE level, you won't have much trouble getting started on the HNC. However im sure it'll be slightly different for deck/eng subjects.

I think the GCSE Bitesize website has some good notes and tests, but it can be patronising at times.

There are no stupid question when it comes to maths; you can get that panicky before exams that even simple obvious things can evaporate out through your 'brane.

            Re: Maths......yuck!

can anyone recommend a good A-Level maths standard revision book?

I've once bought an A-Level Physics revision guide by Letts and didn't think much of it, never had a revision book for Maths.

I'm going to be studying Electro if that makes a difference, perhaps less emphasis on arcs and vectors...

A good website for A-Level revision is http://www.s-cool.co.uk/alevel/maths.html
You can find plenty of books out there (if you're not sure you could ask your local library for a copy so if it's no good you can take it back)
              You can trust me,

I'm using the Collins guide, even things that weren't covered when I was at school are easily explained. That coupled with the material from Warsash (which I think is pitiful) seems to be doing the trick.

I think that instead of sending out a CDRom, the college need a reading list instead. That fosters a sense of study before you start perhaps?

Anyhow, advanced algebra tomorrow! Off to the British Classic Yacht Club do in Cowes tonight to get very tiddled now!!
