Having tried just the Warsash lot, extending my search for any other new Trinity House life forms... Looking like the induction day is going to be awful lonely at the moment!

Back in 2010, they were still recruiting in July for the upcoming Sept intake, so you may just be a bit early.

Don't worry, with TH it's about quality not quantity! You won't regret being with them, although you may have to communicate with some lesser beings from other companies!

Ahhhhhh, I thought it was only Cunard and P&O that thought themselves a cut above the rest of us......

Reminds me of a story. An old British MN Officer died and went to the Seafarers Heaven. He was met at the gates by King Neptune and Poseidon. When he entered he was surprised to see Officers of all ranks and nationalities walking around. King Neptune could see his puzzled look and asked why he was confused. He said "I thought that as the elite of MN Officers that Seafarers Heaven was only open to British Officers?" King Neptune laughed and replied " Every MN Officer of every race and religion are welcome here because you are all the chosen people and special because of the career you chose!"

After getting over the shock and walking around for a while he eventually noticed a long wall that went down the entire length of Seafarers Heaven. He paused and looked at it puzzled. Again King Neptune asked him what was troubling him. "Why the wall?" said the Officer. "Aaahh" said King Neptune "We have that wall to divide Seafarers Heaven, and on the other side of it are all the British Cunard and P&O Officers - they like to think that they are the only ones here!"

So maybe the last line should be "We have that wall to divide Seafarers Heaven, and on the other side of it are all the British Cunard, P&O and Trinity House Officers - they like to think that they are the only ones here!"

Sorry, their standards were always low - they just talked up a storm when in a room together, swung the lamp a few times and then decided they were the best and a cut above the rest of us.

You should have seen the scraps between Officers when I was with Ocean Fleets. Half of then were Blue Funnel and half were Elder Dempsters! I even saw a Captain and a Chief Officer argue about what dinner was called! I Sh1te ye not.... Blue Funnel Captain called it "Chow" as they always had Chinese crew, Elder Dempster First Mate called it "Chop" as they had African crew on ED ships! Much more of a fight when the Old Man had had half a bottle of Gin on a Sunday Afternoon and he would start talking down the the Chief Officer when he came down for meal relief. Oh the fun!

              Haha!

Having been a TH Cadet, worked on Bankline and then over 10 years P&O Cruises etc I feel I should not enter into this any more!

Politics, Religion and some shipping companies should never be discussed at the dinner table!

Hi, I'm starting at Warsash in September with Trinity House as a deck cadet. At least I know I won't be the only one at the induction day now.

Hey first of all congrats for getting the sponsorship! I'm a Trinity House Deck Cadet over here in NMCI, in Ireland! Being situated at Warsash you should have all the benefits that Trinity have to offer and should enjoy your sea time on a variety of different ships! Our system over here is slightly different as we do a Degree as apposed to the Higher National Diploma so I'm afraid I cant be of any use with what to expect, over your side of the water!
As for the bull about Trinity House Officers being pompous or up their own back sides I'm afraid I've met far more from some of the larger blue chip companies so to speak! To tar all cadets with the one brush is very narrow minded and shows the strength of character of the judge! At the end of the day I would like to think I am judged on my ability to perform as a cadet and one day officer, not because I was a Trinity House Cadet!

Shane, welcome to the forum! I think they were messing around earlier, people here are mostly harmless! We have the option here of doing a FD or a HND, so it should all be fairly similar anyway. Warsash looks to be good, certainly my first choice!
