  • Preperation for Cadetship

Hi all, I have been offered sponsorship with Clyde Marine to commence a cadetship in marine engineering in September 2014. I really can not wait to get started!! I know that it will be very hard work so I am just after some advice on how I can prepare myself for when I start.

    Thanks

My advise..... chill out, have fun, go on holiday, spend the summer with your family/mates, etc... maybe get a job so you have a little extra cash for over your cadetship.. Come september you'll be involved in a intense learning program where time off revolves around college holidays (which are usually ok because its set dates) and sea phases where you (depending on your company) may not know that far in advance when you'll be away or home!

In short have a fun the now and then when it comes to September get your head down and work your socks off.... BTW I'm not saying college and sea phases are not fun, it can just be hard to plan stuff with your family/mates back home during your cadetship!

    CD.

Hello, I'm starting in September with Clyde as Engine Cadet as well
Just got ENG1 and getting my references sorted now. Just got to wait till August/September now, hopefully it won't take too long.
What college are you going to ?

Get your eng1 sorted if you haven't already got one, other than that relax and enjoy your freedom whilst you can do what you want when you can!

            It depends on age.

If your under 18 it's 1 year if over its 2...

Although cause my BMI was high she only gave me a 1 year...

Ahh right, its understandable I suppose to have limits like on how long they last with the strict rules and regulations for safety involved, need to make sure everyone is fit and able to do the job safely

It depends though because even though my BMI is slightly high...I still feel fit.....
