  • CMT Sponsors?

    Hello everyone,
I just wanted to ask a quick question. Are Caledonian Macbrayne or DFDS Seaways good as a sponsor through a HNC?
Feel free to post personal experiences etc.
    Thanks

I had friends with CalMac and from what I heard they are a very good outfit. From what I recall, they did a lot of stuff with Northern Marine, so they got the experience of the ferries and of some tankers on Deep Sea so a good mix overall.
I love deadlines. I like the whooshing sound they make as they fly by.....

That's always good to know, thanks very much. I also chose Royal Caribbean and god knows what they're like.

No offence, but you're more likely to have a night of passion with Beyonc? than you are to get Royal Caribbean as a sponsor because everyone puts them down and they only take 1 cadet a year.

Haha! Yeah they told me about that but it's worth a try. If you don't try, you don't get I suppose. Although I've heard some bad stories about RCI, since I've been to the college open day.

The lad who got RCI on our intake contacted them himself saying he was applying for Clyde Marine would they consider choosing him.

He sent them a CV and Cover letter and they chose him.

Im kind of regretting choosing RCI now. It was probably a waste of an option.

Royal Caribbean took on 8 deck cadets in this years January intake apparently.

In my intake everyone with Clyde didn't get there choices apart from 1 who directly applied to frastrad then to Clyde. However we did all get alright companies.

I have applied for the September intake with CMT just waiting on a reply from my application to see if I get an interview just got a couple of questions.

Any suggestions on which companies I should choose when I get given the option?

Also do CMT always fix you up with one or can they leave you to find one on your own with the promise that they will train you?

Finally what company is most popular with CMT, any one that they send a large majority of their cadets too

                            Thanks
                            Andrew

                              I'll take this one.

Zodiac. There will be someone who will come along shortly to explain this fuller. As far as I'm aware they are a "tonnage tax company" or something like that. They only care about the money from taking on cadets, with this in mind there's no motive in training cadets.

You'll be thinking - well if this is the case how are they popular? They're not. CMT send a large majority of their cadets to zodiac. That was your question. I've heard there's a lot of disappointed faces on the first day of college for some CMT cadets, finding out they're with zodiac.
The games are always, repeat, always, being played. But nobody plays the games like me. You just have to be the best.. And I usually am. Same rules apply.
