Just hoping for a ball park figure. Is ?400 per month realistic, including possible spending when on trips ashore?

How much money should I expect to spend during sea phase on a cruise ship.

It depends on you, I spent all my money whoops, this phase I shall be better. Costs you're gonna get are
-Alcohol. on board can be cheap, (in crew areas, not pax) ashore can be expensive.
-Tourist stuff if you're gonna collect any thing, get presents etc.
-Depending on company, eating in pax dining, you may go out a few times with your team.
-shops on board if you fancy some sweets or something different. (Try buy most your stuff off ship as pax shops are expensive for deodorant etc)
-again depends on company but internet, it can build up.
-phone bill, try look around before you go away for a good deal, normally the standard roaming changes aren't cheap.
If you tried really hard you could probably save nearly all your wage as obviously accommodation is free and food which is all you need and you don't really need to spend much when getting off as most ports have something interesting local! But ?400 does sound about right to be social and do 'stuff' ,maybe a tad high if you wanted to save. Good luck haha
