  • Comfy Safety Boots

Can anyone recommend a comfortable pair of safety boots? Don't mind paying out for something good. Needs to be black leather type as I'm on passenger ships - so sadly no riggers or the like. As an ETO will be doing a fair amount of walking around the ship, so don't want to be hobbling a couple of days into sea phase....

    Cheers

The ones CMT used to issue used to be pretty good and you could bull them up really nicely as well...
I love deadlines. I like the whooshing sound they make as they fly by.....

Subsea 7 use a decent pair, they are black leather boots with laces on the front and a zip down the side. I tied them once - the first time I wore them - and just used the zip on the side to get in and out of them after that.

Carting around your own boots will be a pain when you're packing and passenger ships will usually have a selection of black safety shoes and boots and white safety shoes (especially if you're with Carnival). I've always found the ones issued on board comfortable. I've brought back a really comfy pair of black boots for my short courses and the white safety shoes are as comfortable as trainers.

Agree with CD. Get some sorbothane insoles ( cost about ?10 from any camping/outdoorsy type shop). You can just stick them in what they have aboard. Will turn most boots in to something more comfy than a pair of trainers.
