  • Imperial shipping experience?

    Hi everyone,

I'm due to start my sea phase next week and I am still yet to find anyone that has experience with imperial shipping? Can anyone help?

Never heard of them until now, and their website doesn't tell you much. Do you know if you're going General Cargo or Ro-Ro? Looking at Equasis I'm seeing no major red flags, one ship in the fleet has had 2 detentions in the last year (Timberland) but the rest have none. If you get on a general cargo ship you'll get loads of great experience I would think, there's not many GC ships left these days. Do please come back and tell us about them when you get back! (Or even from the ship if possible!)

They seem to have quite an old fleet, I imagine that would be quite interesting. The Accomodation blocks seem huge!

Have a sneaky peak at the ASP website as they were the vessel managers last I heard...
I love deadlines. I like the whooshing sound they make as they fly by.....

Knew a lad that was with them. Said that they were ok, not the worst in the world. Think all their ships are full Filipino crewed with the odd Swedish captain. Don't think there is internet on board but he had plenty time in port.

I was with them briefly as a cadet. They were mostly crewed by Eastern Europeans back then, but they wern't too bad.

Not to give a downer, but don't get your hopes up on spending days in port because you might not you know...

Yeah I know, that's not really a massive interest to me, but if I was to get time off in ports it would be good!

Your never guaranteed time in port so it's best not to get your hopes up. But the lad I knew that was with them had a good time of it and seemed to have enjoyed it, he said the best vessels he sailed on were the ones that had a Swedish captain who taught him well, the rest of the officer/crew on-board were Filipino, he never said that they were bad or anything. As Guinessman said there may be Filipino or eastern-europeans as some people call them Fussr's (Former USSR's). Some of these companies switch crewing companies from time to time so crew nationality can vary.
