Subjects for Orals

Now this will seem like laziness on my part, and it kind of is but I was just wondering if anyone knows where I might be able to find a list of the more important subjects to look at for my orals.

Obviously I should be competent in everything but I mean a list of the subjects that come up more often in orals, such as Meteorology, Actions in Emergencies etc..

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Has sample oral questions in the apendix. although its a bit pricey if u ask me

I did think this as soon as i typed it! Just feeling a bit stressed as I've just got my orals date and wondering where to begin with studying. The college I was at gave us zero oral prep.

Banff & Buchan College in Peterhead. It was an absolute nightmare of a course, they took on Cadets when they weren't prepared at all for us and by the end we were struggling to finish the HND course on time so got absolutely no Oral Prep.

None at all from my college. I did manage to get some from Glasgow College recently which is a big help.

I suppose my best option is to work through the syllabus in the MGN mentioned above.

Whilst I have issues with other parts of the website, the orals reports at http://www.colreg.net/apps/forums/sh...2nd-mate-orals can be quite useful. It's mainly Glasgow candidates and examiners, but they often have/had guest examiners from the Marine Offices at Leith and Aberdeen. Kaiser Ali, Fletcher and Raman Bala are probably the main guys at Glasgow, Simon Alletson at Leith and Dougie Temphill at Aberdeen. I had to dig back a few pages to find some Temphill examinations: http://www.colreg.net/apps/forums/to...mpt-april-2012 and http://www.colreg.net/apps/forums/to...pes-march-2012 but there are probably more, and it's worth looking at a range of examiners anyway.
