  • Do ships cooks need a cooks certificate?

If you are working on a UK flagged ship, does the ships cook need a official cooks certificate?

Or can they sail as cook without a certificate if they have only have hygene certificates?

As far as I am aware it is not a requirement. But whether or not it should be is a different matter.

They do need some sort of catering qualification but what I'm not sure. Not that it matters much as most cooks I sailed with where ****...

"What's the hardest MN course to pass?"

"The catering course, no fecker's passed it yet...."

      TAXI!
I love deadlines. I like the whooshing sound they make as they fly by.....

If the minimum manning ce3rtificate on a UK ship requires a cook then that means a cook with a UK'ship's cook certificate of competency, or equivalent.
        Go out, do stuff
