I have never sailed with MSC but I know a few people who have, as far as I can tell they are no better or worse than any other container line. In all container companies there are some ships which are absoloutly awful, some which arn't great, some which are ok, and a few which are good, well run ships. Either way working on a container ship is generally very boring, tedious, and hard work especially for deckies. Also it is highly unlikely that these container lines would employ you as a British officer once qualified.

Just to be clear when I was talking about differet ships, what I really meant is the crew as thats what really makes the difference, particularly the senior officers.

also if you haven't already accepted an offer, maybe you would want to reconsider zodiac. I haven't heard the best of things about them and i think one of the companies they can send you away with is MSC and we all know what they are!

You could say your friends were garbage and would find any sponsoring company garbage. That was my experience with most of the Zodiac cadets. A complete dead-head bunch that had been excreted out of Glasgow College and thrown out to sea. No motivation, no concern, no respect.
I had a good time on Zodiac ships, learnt everything I needed to know and more, and built up good friendship with the ships crews. And despite your claim, I only sailed with one Russian. So get your facts straight the next time you choose to berate a company you didn't actually work for, and have no first hand experience of.

They are another one of these companies that exploit cadets for financial gain and have little interest in keeping them on. Most of the sponsor companies are like that. Get you ticket and then shown the door. Many people had trouble with Zodiac even getting a berth on a ship... not having enough sea time by end of course having to delay oral exams by many months all while their classmates are passing.

Presumably, Itochu being a large corporation and Shipowner (I think) with Zodiac being a 3rd Party manager could mean that you're with Zodiac, but will sail with Itochu...

Zodiac are garbage. Only good thing about them is that it at least gives people a berth on a ship in order to get their required sea time for the ticket. Know loads of people that were with them are they say the same thing, pretty garbage. You should start learning Russian! You will sail with a lot of angry Russians.

I am pretty sure that they are both the same Zodiac, but different names probably for bank reasons or something similar. I'm sure you'll get a meeting with the training manager (Mr. Hodgkiss) in the next few weeks so he could probably clarify it further.

Hi, I've started my cadetship and found out I am with Zodiac, which I'm perfectly happy with, but I'm with Zodiac Itochu. Whats the difference between them and Zodiac Maritime

Indeed, if it wasn't for Zodiac taking on so many cadets a year, about 50-60 cadets a year would struggle to get a start.

Zodiac are a Clyde Marine company, so unless you want to reconsider your career in the merchant navy, you best make the most of it.

I don't know for certain but when i was a cadet with maersk, the intake got split into 2 halves one was payed/sponsored by 'maersk offshore guernsey' and the other 'maersk Bermuda' as far i know its just a bank account, there isn't any real difference. I'm not sure what the purpose of it is, maybe tax reasons maybe not but that's my best guess and im sticking with it =]

Whats the difference with these two companies. Lot of people got zodiac maritime where one boy got zodiac itochu ?
