  • British Shipping Safety Awareness Awards 2012

    For all current cadets, you'll probably see the posters around your college, but it's worth entering and you could win some cash;

    ?Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn?t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.?

      The idea behind it is that you think of your own ideas...
      I love deadlines. I like the whooshing sound they make as they fly by.....

        I'll happily split the prize - The thing is the head of MNTB training is also head of Trinity House training and he's keen to see some entries from us this year, we were all busy at sea last year.

            I wasn't aware HRH headed up cadet training, I was referring to the MNTB chairman David Squire.

              Just finished writing my entry. How many entries do you think there will be. And Chris isn't that a bit of a conflict of interest seen as trinity house are sponsoring it.

                Most training officers push it - we had the "by the way you all need to submit something to this" when I was a cadet (fortunately we were final phase and used "studying for orals" as our get out excuse)...

                  Well ive thought of an idea, its not original but more along the lines of why dont ships use this piece of existing equipment. I dont think they get many entries.

                      its not a bad idea to google what won the 2011 awards to see the standard of competition.

                        I had something that I could have made for this, but I'm not a cadet yet so can't enter. If they run it next year, I'll enter, win, and use the winnings for an OC piss up. You have my word.
