Nowt wrong with being the only one on board so I wouldn't worry about it.
You want to work with LNG huh? Why's that? (this is just curiosity, nothing else)I love deadlines. I like the whooshing sound they make as they fly by.....

From what I have heard the pay on LNG tankers is quite high and I am interested in the steam turbines that appear to power the majority of those types of vessels.
What is life gererally like onboard one of these ships. What I should have said was that I dont want to be the only officer who speaks conversational english.lead, follow or get out of the way

You'll find the Officer's and Crew on LNG ships will speak a much higher level of English as these are complicated vessels that require them to have a higher level of education, also SIRE requires it. I currently deal with four LNG ships and the crew on board all speak excellent English.
Life on-board will be similar to that of any other tanker, only the requirements for these vessels are different. Go into your college and look for a book called SIGGTO. That has all the requirements for LNG's in them.
I wouldn't just get myself stuck to just LNG's though. The pay is considerably higher, but the majority run Steam Ships and you don't want to get stuck with just a Steam Ticket, try and get a combined one.I love deadlines. I like the whooshing sound they make as they fly by.....

I have to admit, as a Brit, its always nice to have a fellow Brit onboard to share the humour and be able to talk to about things. Four of us where I work now (2 deck and 2 engine) which makes a pleasant working environment.
Nothing wrong with other nationalities, but I do understand where the OP is coming from.
