  • Preparation for College

    Hi there!

I was just wondering what sort of preparation you all did before you went to college? I am on the Deck (FD) course at Warsash starting in September and as I have a lot of free time at the minute, I was wondering if there was anything I could/should be doing.

    Many thanks for any help.

Enjoy being the master of your own destiny for the next 2 months, I think brush up on maths is never a bad thing, but i wouldnt go nuts the lst thing you want is to be miles ahead and find the college stuff boring,
you can take it with a pinch of salt, but i prefer it with a nip of whisky

Go through the maths material when you get it and make sure you're 100% confident. If you're happy and proficient with the pre-course maths you'll fly through.

Other than that, read about the industry, about ships, shipping terms. Do some Google research. You can never read enough.

Apart from that, there's a lot that can really only be done at college so it's a case of waiting and enjoying your summer!
