Where are you going to live when you qualify?

I am just wondering where people would like to live when they qualify? The way I understand it you usually fly out to meet your ship. Doesn't this mean can you settle anywhere in the world you want? (Depending on transport links etc of course). I'd like to go to either Spain or Australia I think

Bristol for me. Close enough to my folks to go visit, far enough away to not have them pop in unexpectedly. Likewise with my partner's mum. Good rail links, the sea's close, and most importantly of all: There's a cider bar on a boat.

That is a good enough reason for me!

I quite fancy setting up somewhere down South at some point in my life. Somewhere not too far from London, but far enough that I can forget it is there.

spain seems a good plan once their property crash reaches a floor, or perhaps portugal

Hopefully with my bro for the few months I plan on being in the UK, help to cover the costs of rent on the apartment. Makes stuff like keeping my mail secure whilst away a lot easier if I know that it's going to my bro.

My companies terms and conditions say that if I move somewhere that might end up costing them more for travel to and from the ship then I might have to pay the difference. Although how they would work it out, I have no idea. We do tend to join and leave in the same port all the time but I don't think I have ever had two flights that cost the same!

I'm living in Asia now, and works quite well. Have house staff, drivers and maids. Good international schools, and cheap to live nd socialise. Nip across to hong kong on the equivilent of ryanair at the weekends for a night out, not a too bad lifestyle.

Scotland, Brazil, Norway, Thailand, Kazakhstan, Tahiti, Costa Rica, New Zealand... no idea, but that is part of the attraction of this whole thing =P

Tbh, I would like to move overseas at some point but I'm not sure if I'd want to do it straight away. Never know, might take the plunge and up sticks but I'd want to spend a bit of time in the UK after qualifying before going somewhere else. Australia is one of my main hopes but I'd be happy in a few other asia-pacific countries.
