CMT sea uniform

Just wondering do any of the Clyde Marine cadets know what uniform (if anything) we are given before we join our ships?

I got a packet of a jumper and 3 shirts waiting on the overalls and boots.

Not even started college yet but on my joining instructions it says they supply you with boiler suits and safety boots and sea going uniform such as shirts, pants etc (I think) and tropical shorts if required haha.

Seagoing uniforms for Clyde Marine cadets are entirely dependent on the policy on the ships of their sponsoring company, or of the company whose ships they are actually sent to sea on. You can imagine that uniform policy on a supply boat in the North Sea is a bit different (if any) compared to that on a cruise ship in the Mediterranean.

Basically, CMT will give you the following: -

White Uniform Shirts,
Maybe the White shorts and knee high socks,
Black uniform trousers,
Nato jumper,
rank slides,
Maybe another set of boiler suits (unlikely),
Safety Shoes,
Rank Slides

Ummmmm yes I did despite it being at most a week back I had trouble remembering.

Remember CMT do not get your uniform for college you have to supply that ( which is basically the same as the sea uniform you will get a list from the college telling you what ).

Do engineers ever actually have to wear sea going uniform? Surely it would be a once in a blue moon occurrence. I assumed (but what do I know?) that some good boiler suits for on duty and some comfy civvies for off duty would take up the majority of an engineer?s wardrobe.

From what I've heard from friends already qualified unless your on a pax boat uniform is either a pair of jeans and tshirt or boiler suit depending on the work your doing. But they could just be winding me up.

Got to be said, I carry 1 pr uniform trews and 1 uniform shirt (short sleeved) with me and thats it.....havent actually worn either for ermmmmmm a while In fact I thinkn last wearing of uniform was my wedding to mrs Chief 2.0

Most of the time in shorts and tee shirt OR boiler suit if working, we still have those funky Unifrom Boiler suits over here for when we have visitors and the likes :0
