  • phase 1 cadets - how did your first term go?

Was just wondering how your first terms have gone.

To start off - i've found the ETO fd course really great - found the workshop time more challenging than the academic courses - socially South Shields has been a nice change from the south.

Deck HND, really well. Not too challenging, but a lot to squeeze into a few months.

            Same course as chris.

Found the maths solid! However i was never that good at it and it has been the best part of 7 years since i done any. Although i have done OK/better than expected in both exams so far.

Workshop i loved, good amount of time in there, good tasks and i was relatively competant.

Report from the class tutor was very good though so i'm happy how it's went so far!

Oh and nights out in Newcastle are five star, love it. South Shields is quite wild too, good fun.

I'm a Deck Cadet on the FdSc at Plymouth Uni.

The time has flown since september and although I struggled on a few things I can't wait to get to sea. Should find out my placement in the next week
