Who of the September intake has their itinarary for their first trip?

Quite a few of the cruise ship folks at STC have theirs but as yet nothing for the Maersk lot ( myself included).

Chapping at the bit to find out!

Im hoping for a boxboat and a trip far east

    Re: First Trippers

You want to get yourself on a tanker or supply boat.

If you do end up on a box boat the best route is the boomerang, the only problem with that is that it's on the G class but you tend not to mind that when spending your days exploring Sydney and Melbourne.

Why would the G Class be a problem?
From what I've heard from the HR people the G Class ships tend to be what cadets end up on?

        Re: First Trippers

The cabins are a bit on the small side, and normally a few cadets on at a time and personally for me I prefer it when there isnt so many other cadets. I suppose it's probably not so bad if you are a first trip cadet.

Saying that the social life onboard is normally quite good, when I was on one last year we watched movies or played on the wii nearly every night after dinner.

Not sure about other companies but last phase for me the cruise cadets got there schedules around the end of feburary, with most of them leaving in may. Other companies vary on there policies etc, some people only get a few days notice!

Offshore is where its at. Get on one of the Maersk PSV's or AHTS's. Good crack on the offshore vessels.

Cadet:"Can I go on the boat with Chiefy?"
                Maersk: "Who?"

I didnt find out what vessels I was going on until they wanted me to join that same day. At one point, I received a phone call at 0800 asking me if I wanted to go all the way to Glasgow (two hours away by train) to join a ship at 0900?
I love deadlines. I like the whooshing sound they make as they fly by.....

Some companies are dreadful at organising sea time for cadets, a friend of mine with North Star only got 2 months after being messed about for nearly 5 months of his phase two.

We've been told we'll find out at some point in Jan from Maersk what ships we will be on, we're due to leave in Feb.

Hmmm that would explain why we are getting mails asking if we have room for cadets in Feb / March Though we always have room, assuming I havent broken anything expensive and comandeer the cabins for my repair teams he he he
