I sent off for my discharge book about 4 weeks ago and still haven't heard anythin. Does the MCA normally take this long or should I ring them up and find out whats goin on?

Did you get a tracking number?
Also it is peek season for issuing them
Ringing them wont hurt but dont count on it helpingTrust me I'm a Chief.

Been to see the grumpy old woman that lives in a serving hatch to ask who fills in the stcw training page in the discharge book. I got nothing from her apart from a strong odour...anyone know where we can get these pre sea courses endorsed in there??Comment

Dont worry about having that done, it doesn't matter all that much I believe. I did all my MCA stuff without filling in half the book. The only thing that is important is the ships signing bit (which your Captain fills in).
Brief word of warning, DO NOT WRITE IN ANY FALSE DETAILS IN YOUR DISCHARGE BOOK. You can go to prison for doing that! I know you are all unlikely to do it, but some will and when you send it into the MCA they will, in all likelihood, catch on to it.I love deadlines. I like the whooshing sound they make as they fly by.....

This doesn't happen - some companies who run in house courses (such as fast rescue boats, or crisis management / crowd management, tender training etc.) may complete this section instead of issuing a certificate - but normally your standard STCW-95 courses don't get entered.Originally posted by steamer
