I believe "V neck is preferred"

although on a simple search online i've found one for sale for c.?10

    http://www.aspli.com/safety/6/63/0/1/sweaters-jumpers

it says ?8.50 but that's ex VAT

with VAT at 17.5% (for now) it'll be ?9.99

That is fine for South Tyneside, very similar to mine although they are very warm. I got a cheaper V neck one too just cause the wool one was too warm. You dont have to wear any though aslong as you got shirt and tie on.

I've bought some of acrylic type, dad (who wears/has worn some in the past) says the wool ones hardly last at all, and turn into spaghetti after a wash

They're the same style as the wool ones, only they're not 'knitted' - I got them for about 12 quid each from www.matrixuniforms.co.uk (under Workwear>Security Uniforms).

The acrylic rubbish CMT give you isn't worth tuppence. What is the point of 'woolen' garments that don't keep you warm? Wool does require care when washing, but a decent wool jumper will last years.

Is the 50% wool / 50% acrylic a good compromise because to be honest I don't like wool jumpers and was wondering if anyone with the 50/50 can tell if they still go sharp against the skin after a while like the 100% wool ones. Im buying 100% acrylic otherwise.

My instructions say navy blue seaman's jersey RN pattern. Presume this means the NATO jumper anybody else have this?

Wool is fine... you are supposed to wear a shirt under it!

Wash? WASH?!!! What are you doing trying to wash it? If you are getting it dirty/sweaty you are doing something wrong. I've had mine for years without washing it. The proper RN/MOD issue ones are round neck. V-neck is for wannabes and security guards.

I suppose you might hand wash it if you really, really had to.

I intend to use my MOD issue one.
