My friend gets ?899 as a Eng cadet with Carnival. However he has to pay for his accommodation, although he lives near by the college.

A bit OT but I can't believe the salary is the same as it was over 10 years ago!

    Carnival Cadet Pay

Salary at present is ?28k but this will change by the time you qualify. Carnival are introducing a competency based pay framework which will see those new to position earning a few thousand less than this, with the opportunity to earn a few thousand more as you progress.

You are expected to stay for two years as long as you are offered a job. I haven't heard of any Carnival cadets who have successfully completed their cadetships not being offered a job.

Yeah, they keep you for 2 years and the salary for a 3rd officer/ 2 engineer is around 26k-31k.

I'm pretty sure you sign a 2 year contract with carnival saying you will work for them when you qualify, obviously they can sack you like but it shows intention that they expect to keep cadets on..

i think the salary is 28k, unless my mate it talking shi-ayte.

Yeah, they keep you on for a few trips once you are qualified

With a company like carnival, there is more chance of a job once qualified than with one of the agencies. If you get good reports as a cadet then they would probably keep you on.

As a cadet you have a training allowance which is enough to live off. Once you're qualified you may be offered a job with carnival or you may have to find an officers job elsewhere. As a newly qualified officer the salary would be around 25000.

It could be as little as nothing if they decide not to take you on afterwards
