Do cadets get paid while at sea?

Even though they will be paying for my accomodation as they can only sign a 40 week contract, and I will only be at the college for about 23 weeks, will they still pay?

Yes, some companies pay less while you're at sea, but you will get paid.

I am a degree cadet joining a vessel tomorrow. We get paid ?15 a day but its all experience.

even so, that would build up after a few months to quite a bit, for what you would probably use of it while at sea.
Do you no if your sponsorship company pay for your accomodation at your college while at sea?

?15 a day may not sound like much, but they pay for your bed, food and other bills.

My contract for my accomodation at GCNS is only for the time i'm there 5th sept to 19th sept. You should talk to your college and see if you are allowed a shorter contract since you won't actually be there. They surely have had that experience with previous cadets. I'm with SSTG and since they pay for the accommodation they have something sorted out with GCNS and I presume with other colleges.
