  • Phase 1 College finances

Hi all, can anyone give any details of how the early weeks work in a financial sense? I am assuming the sponsoring company pays the training salary in arrears, but college will want accommodation fees up front. Or does the company pay the college direct? And do you have to buy uniform yourself and then get reimbursed later? Just wondering roughly how much will be needed up front. Thanks.

    Hey

Halls depend on college I think, I know at Fleetwood they are paid in advance.

Companies differ with this as some will pay your halls directly with the college, and some (clyde for example) expect you to pay them yourself out of your sponsorship payments.

    Uniform:

Again differs from company to company. Some will have it waiting at college for you. Others like clyde give it to you a few days in. For the most part if that's the case a white shirt with black tie and black trousers/skirt if you wish can be worn with black shoes.

    Hope this helps

Like I say this depends on the college. I know fleetwood are fine with it being just a white shirt until your company provide you with them.

Epaulletes needed for actual uniform shirts. If it's a temporary thing don't worry about it.

I was required to pay for 4 weeks accommodation & deposit upon arriving. As mentioned it could vary with college and if your company pay for accommodation (which as far as I'm aware, not many do)
As for uniform, I purchased epaulettes and pilot shirts prior to starting. CMT did provide all cadets with epaulettes and pilot shirts about a week into the phase so as a temporary thing they don't mind just a regular white shirt with tie until then. Not sure how other companies may deal with it.
