Hello to all,
After six months of daily viewing on the forum, I've finally got round to writing my first post, so here goes!
So I'm an aspiring engine cadet, who will be graduating from university this July with a mechanical engineering degree. Having waited so long for my LIA I was late applying to companies and only managed the BP, Maersk and Shell deadlines. Having already had an interview with Maersk (unsuccessful on gaining a cadetship) I now have a phone interview with BP this Thursday! I'm confused to whether or not the phone interview will be of the same nature as other cadetship interviews (why do you want to go to sea, why engine not deck...etc?) or is it of different nature, surely the same questions would come up in a face to face interview, if successful?
Having had the interview with Maersk really helped me with knowing what sort of questions will come up and they gave me feedback saying I was desperately unlucky having had a really good interview but struggled with knowing what an engine cadet's responsibilities are on-board a ship? I personally thought that a cadet had no real solid responsibilities on-board other than do what a senior watch keeper would tell you to do...obviously I was wrong! I would be really grateful if anyone could help me on this subject?
Also anyone heard back from shell? Only had the conformation e-mail, I later sent them three other emails with no replies...?
Thanks
