  • SSTG - Container/Cargo companies

I am in the process of deciding which company to go with. I?ve narrowed it down to three container carrier companies: CMA-CGM, OOCL and Paccship. I?m hoping anyone with experience with these companies can shed some light on what there are like to work for as a cadet.

    Thanks in advance!

    ARE CMA-CGM NOT FULL??!! That's a relief
The games are always, repeat, always, being played. But nobody plays the games like me. You just have to be the best.. And I usually am. Same rules apply.

Out of them, I would definitely go for CMA CGM. They have recently established a great onboard cadet training programme. Although there will be no job after.

Evergreen is available but I was advised that they are not good for engine cadet due to the fact that they're very strict on health and safety and won't allow engine cadet to do much. Basically you start in a white boiler suit and leave in a white boiler suit.

On the other hand I head they are very good for deck cadets.

            cheers

Evergreen though is all asian crew, so there will always be a language barrier. CMA employ european senior officers and some european junior officers, mostly croatians. I found them generally very good with cadets.

that's a very fair point. When Steve at SSTG spoke of them highly, it was in regards to a deck cadetship.

I spoke to them earlier today and it seems CMA are out of vacancy for Deck Cadets. Only Evergreen seen to have vacancy in the container carrier department.

                  Sorry Buddy

Hi, I am a Phase 3 deck cadet with Evergreen. I can answer any questions you may have. I have been told that they no longer have engine cadets as they are not allowed to touch anything.

Pretty sure of it. They seem to be going down the German officer route on the UK managed ships. Seems to be a lot of chinese/ filipino cadets on the others from talking to people who would know.
