  • What sort of Health Requirements are needed for the ENG1 Medical?

Hi there, I have just been offered sponsorship with Clyde Marine, and I have an appointment to see one of the doctors. I've read on other theads that you need to be able to touch your toes then arch your back over etc. Do you actually need to be able to touch your toes fully? Because I'm hopeless at it! 

    Thanks

I must ask you one question and one question only, which college are you going too?

I'm honestly the only one going to Shetland I think lol, anyway I have my medical on Monday so can let you know, but I wouldn't worry too much about touching your toes etc!

I've never had to touch my toes. You just generally get asked questions, jump on the scales, height checked, eye sight checked, hearing checked and on your way. If the dock things you unfit for any reason he might send you to a gym for a fitness test which is pathetic, i got sent for one and I had to walk for 10 minutes, stand on 1 foot for a minute, crawl under a table and walk up stairs for a minute

ENG1 can be different depending where you go, some people get the full works others just get a hi/bye. I did have to bend over and all that stuff while he felt me up (no finger in bum) but it was just to "check" my spine i guess wasn't critical i had to touch my toes, but he didnt fail cause i couldn't. Main things you can fail on are weight, sight and maybe hearing, but its not much to worry about, I got worked up about it for nothing and im sure most others did too!
