  • ENG.1 Alcohol

Does the ENG.1 test for alcohol consumption? Mines is this Monday and it was probably a rookie move having it that close to new year now it's not like I've been on the piss for 6 days, just NYE but just wondering how strict they may be.

The eng1 only tests for sugar levels in your system. Bear in mind though they may do a drug & alcohol test at any point during your cadetship ! The alcohol test will only show how much is in your system at that point.

Ahhh, bearing in mind I'm only 16 but obviously I don't plan on drinking during my cadet ship really, just nervous the now which I understandable as it's the last hurdle for an unconditional offer now

When it comes to the D&A test, those are administered by your sponsor usually and are very rarely, if ever, conducted during an ENG1.

However, when it does come to alcohol and tests, it does boil down to a common sense approach with CMT. If you're under 16 and any is detected, they'll give you a warning. If you're over 18 and it appears that you've had a few beers the night before, but are under the drink drive limit, then normally nothing is said. If you are over the drink drive limit then you'll get an official warning. You can't exactly plan for the tests as they are conducted on a random basis and people are randomly selected.
I love deadlines. I like the whooshing sound they make as they fly by.....

Alright cheers GM, hopefully all is well with the eng then! Put of curiosity do you know how long after receipt of the medical do companies (CMT) get back to you with official offer etc?

The doc will ask you how many units of alcohol you consume as part of the medical Being under 18 i'd imagine 0 is the right answer :P
