  • Can Australians apply for sponsorship?

Okay so i wanted to apply for sponsorship in the Carnival corporations and plc but instead i found this forum.
Does anyone here know if i could apply for sponsorship? Wouldn't want to give them a bad first impression asking the wrong questions, so i thought i would ask here first.

    Thanks for the help!

Your biggest issue will be tax as Australia has no tax free system, I was with the Carnival group and had to leave as soon as I got my Australian Visa as I would have been on less money as a staff captain than a rubbish collector in Australia (seriously!) also the company had a policy of not hiring a Australians due to the tax issues.

Unfortunately your chances with Carnival are slim to nothing. The company has its own cadetship scheme in place and berths tend to be full most of the time.

Don't lose hope, you just need to cast your net a bit wider to get your seatime and consider companies outside the cruise sector.

To tell you the truth im in this field because i heard the money was great, i dont know what to do so i just thought about the money. So if the cruise sector isnt for me, then what sector would u prefer money wise for my nationalities. Something that has nothing to do with taxes i hope..

I'm afraid with a Australian passport you are screwed unless you work on Australian based ships as then you are paid enough to negate the tax issue but the fleet is very small (at present there are no vacancies apart from 1 vacancy for a full DP holder).

If you work for another company outside of Australia the Australian tax man will eventually catch you and you will have problems.

Haha so its like Tom and Jerry if i work outside Australia. What about in the gulf i asked the australian maritime college about sponsorship and they said that most of the students they get go to abu dhabi for sponsorship. But i didnt ask about the taxes, and why do i have to pay taxes i mean most of my life ive been in egypt and never paid taxes to anyone.

How do i find australian companies? Is there a site or something?

                thanks alot!
