Carnival uk applying process

Hi everyone I am an aspiring engine cadet
my first choice is carnival uk as a sponsorship.

I would like to to apply to carnival and hopefully be accepted straight after I leave school next year. I obviously do not have a degree so would this limit my chances of carnival accepting me. Out of the amount of people being who apply who are out forward for the interview and out of that how many people are accepted. Also would I have the interview first or the eng1 medical.

Hi Robert, can't answer all of your questions other than to say that not having a degree won't be an issue, going straight from school to a cadetship is the normal route. Are you currently studying a-levels or GCSE's, I would advise anyone to stay at school until A-level if they can.

Not sure of the exact figures, but I know that competition for cadetships is huge and I think this is particularly true with cruise companies, apply to everyone, not just Carnival.

Thanks clanky for your advice I will be applying to almost every company if I can but will my slight colour deficiency be a problem as I have past the farnsworth d-15 test and the city university test which according the an optician engine room safe but will this make some company refuse my application

You've mentioned this issue with your colour deficiency before. Best thing would be to get an ENG1 off your own back. If you get unrestricted or fit for engine room duties, then you can put it in your CV/application, and take it to interviews. It will serve as more evidence that this is a serious decision for you as you've put your own money into it, and not just on a whim. Good luck

Yes passing those two tests will give you an unrestricted engineer's medical for certain. My advice would be to get your ENG1 before any possible interviews so you can physically show potential employers that you are fit for engineering duties. Your ENG1 will however still have a restriction saying you're not fit for navigational lookout duties and that you have some sort of colour deficiency, it shouldn't be a problem with most companies, however I am not sure if cruise companies are stricter.
