I sailed with a cadet who was from Orkney but went to the college in Shetland, sounded ok. Always windy, lots of rain. I spent some of June 2012 in Orkney and it was wall to wall sunshine, but the wind never went away. Congrats on a successful interview.
Not all cadets get travel paid, mine doesn't get anything at all to college or back. Located where we are weekend trip not viable for him to come home. Round trip around ?250 - ?300 depending on time of year.
Any travel he has paid is if he gets sent on a course or to join ship.
So if cadets are getting travel paid to college and back think yourself lucky. Should add he's not in Shetland!Comment
