  • suit or shirt and tie?

i have an interview soon with a training company soon and i am not sure whether or not to just wear a shirt and tie or a full suit? i feel as though a full suit may be too much? any opinions guys?

Hi Geo, from my experience with a number of major cadet sponsors, always try and portray the most professional initial image and impression you can, therefore the suit is a must. That along with a firm handshake actually looking at the interviewer goes a long way. This applies throughout your career, we have Masters Orals being done by the MCA here this week and all candidates have turned up in a suit or uniform (all have passed so far). Good luck with the interview.

Full suit, always dress as smartly as you can for a formal interview

+1 for suit. Always better to risk being overdressed (within reason; no need to look like you're auditioning for a part on Downton Abbey) than underdressed. Shiny shoes help too. Anything that suggests you're taking it seriously and have put some effort into how you present yourself can help in a formal interview especially when applying for a leadership role in a disciplined service. Good luck on the day, hope it goes well.

I have always worked on the idea of being dressed one step more smartly for an interview than you would for work, as you are going to be wearing a shirt and tie as a cadet then a suit is appropriate.
              Go out, do stuff

As this interview is one of the most important ones for your career, I'd go as formal....

Or naked. That always works too....
