  • Application Cut-off dates

Title pretty much says it all.

I am wondering what the cutoff dates are for the Winter and Autumn intakes in 2014 (Glasgow most specifically but also generally).

    Thanks.

You don't apply to college but to companies. Some may ask your preferences but don't depend on it.

Yeah each company is different in terms of dates. Just apply to as many places as possible, and the earlier the better.

so im guessing if the open day is november in glasgow then it still wouldnt be too late for the winter intake?

not necessarily, but it really depends company to company. The date of the open day is arbitrary. Look on companies' websites and see if applications are open. If They're closed for January, they could well be open for next September, and has already been mentioned, the earlier the better.

As in the January 2014 intake? Not sure. Some companies might still be taking people on for January and if successful they may or may not send you to Glasgow.

Its very company dependant. Some companies will allow you to choose or state a preference as to which college you go to, whereas some will decide for you and some will deliberately send you as far away from home as possible to make sure you can handle being away from home for long periods of time. The latter is not an approach which I agree with but it certainly happens.

Like I say I would start applying now and if the company has space for January then they will put you in there, if not then they will hold you off until next September. Go to the open day anyway, will give you an idea of what to expect.

Thanks for the info will just apply then

I am a university dropout currently looking for work while I am applying. I dropped out because of a crippling back problem that had developed and worsened over 2 years. Turns out it was a benign bone tumor (will avoid the NHS rant here) and got it dealt with privately in the summer. I am now fully recovered and back to normal so while I do have an employment/education gap it is easily explained (believe me I have rehearsed it a lot) and am looking to the sea as I decided I would try regardless of my degree 3 years ago. Probably the 4 years I was in Aberdeen haha.

Might be worth checking to see if you're medically fit as you won't get a place without an ENG1. Most companies offer you a place and then you get the medical, but they might be wary when they hear you had a back problem. You'll find useful links in the ENG1 Guide Thread.

Still might be worth checking. They might want you to wait a few months or something stupid. I applied for an RAF scholarship a while back and got held up despite my problem being fixed a few months earlier
