  • Medical Test

I might be jumping the gun as I've not even had my interview yet but I have two questions about the medical test if I get that far.

1 - Is it conducted at a specific location or can it be done by a local appointed doctor. Mind you I don't live by the sea so not sure I'd be able to do it locally!

2 - Are there any fitness tests involved? I am not totally unfit it would just be good to know if I should start any kind of basic training as it's a while since I didn't any prolonged fitness.

    Re: Medical Test

There's a list of approved doctors here:

    http://www.mcga.gov.uk/c4mca/mcga07-hom ... list-2.htm

Sometimes companies ask for a specific doctor to do the medical though, in which case they should sort out your travl to him etc etc.

No fitness test, just a pretty standard medical really.

    Hope this helps. 8-)

      Re: Medical Test

It's just a series of basic tests. I had mine about a month ago now and it started with a questionnaire followed by an eyesight test, a urine test, a hearing test and a lung test (blow in to a tube as hard as you can). There is also a body examination in which the Doctor looks in your ear and eyes which only takes a minute. Its realy not that bad at all.

      Good luck!

...but if he tells you strip, bend over, shut your eyes, and say aaah, I'd start worrying.

For my Boatmasters medical...well .... it was very thorough!! Saying that though, there is a Pilot that I know who had prostate cancer diagnosed via his ENG1. Like my father in law (ex Chief Fireman) says...NEVER refuse a medical, they might well save your life!

            Re: Medical Test

That?s true. Some companies require their applicants to have their medical tests based on their referrals. Do not worry too much, although there are fitness tests you would undergo, as long as you are physically fit, you will pass.
